Knowledge of the Self

The innate condition,

Of one who is free of all doubt,

Yet moves amongst creatures of illusion,

Can only be known by those just like him.

A man/woman of open intuition,

May realize the Higher Self,

Upon hearing a casual exposition,

While a man of cluttered intellect,

Inquires, bewildered, for a lifetime.

Aversion to the world’s delusions is liberation,

Attachment to the world’s offerings is the suffering of bondage,

This is the penultimate Truth,

Discovering this, one can do as they please.

This knowledge of Truth,

Turns an eloquent, wise and active man,

Mute, empty and inert.

Those addicted to the “world” therefore shun.

Attachment and abstinence,

Are both attributes of the mind,

Yet, you are not the mind.

You are pure Consciousness itself –

Changeless, non-dual, inconceivable and inexhaustible,

Go in happiness and inner-Bliss.

Sometimes I think if the world held a day of silence, a lot of nonsense would fall away. But perhaps it’s the opposite: the inessential falls, the silence comes.
