When difference is sameness

It is human nature to think oneself as if on a path disparately variant from that of others. For example, persons from one religious path is likely to think himself as worshipping a God different from that of a person from a different religion. The keynote of divinity of one can only occur if these meaningless differences are transcended. The splendor of the perfect Truth cannot be enclosed in a single dogma alone.

Diversity is how Thatness manifests in Nature. Actually, to have contempt for other paths is to blockade one’s own. On the contrary compassion is the key – to see the struggle of others to reach Thatness through inevitable obscuration. The joke below goes further to illustrate this concept. Also, once you attain enlightenment through whichever path, you instantly realize that all knowledges constitute of the same matter of illumination.

Difference is sameness and sameness is difference

Nasrudin (13 century A.D., Turkey) was taking a donkey-load of grapes to the city market. Groups of small children incessantly kept begging him for the grapes: but he only gave them a small handful each.

“You are mean, Nasrudin!” they shouted.

“Not at all”, said the Mullah, ” I am doing this to illustrate the inherent silliness of children. All these grapes taste the same. Once you have had some you know what all the rest are like. So it doesn’t matter whether you have many or just a few.”

  1. The keynote of divinity of one can only occur if these meaningless differences are transcended. The splendor of the perfect Truth cannot be enclosed in a single dogma alone : the human mind likes division, it needs division and separation to exist. Majority of the human race are afriad to lose the mind because they fear nothingness. For them knowledge is power. Their knowledge is the only means they can make meaning out of life…..they can have a sense of control and this is a requirement for survival. But if you want to come alive only surrender is necessary. Unfortunatly, man prefers to survive than to live. So there.

  2. Everything a bodhisattva does or says is pure Mahayana, the most supreme vehicle that factors in all living beings. My intention herein is the actualization and illustration of this forgotten concept by pure practice.

  3. Sadly mostly forgotten. Yet I know many on this path here in Cincinnati and Bloomington, including me. Intention is the key. Engagement is the fulfillment. I’m still on the intending part.
