Striving for a higher type of humanity

It little profits an idle king;

In the same spirit, what I see in great

Men of Truth of past, present and future is

An inconceivable striving for a higher type of humanity.

To me, that means a more beautiful,

More noble human being and human existence.

You see that throughout the enlightened (Buddhas), and

To me that is the core of their Teaching.

Come, my friends,

‘Tis not too late to seek a newer world.

Push off, and sitting well in order smite

The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds

To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths

Of all the western stars, until I die.

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down;

It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,

And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.

Though much is taken, much abides; and though

We are not now that strength which in old days

Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are:

One equal temper of heroic hearts,

Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will

To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

  1. there is no newer, better, higher i.e superiority or inferiority to self realized which is on person basis-, there is no seeking in ‘I am’ as it already is -‘sciousness’ is one and the same . hierarchy contains the delusion of dualism

  2. I’m pretty unbalanced right now, and just went to my first monastery here in Memphis, and just met with a member and talked about my first step. I’m not afraid of new experiences, but what frightens me is my first step of self awareness. I don’t believe i’ve ever fully committed to know myself, as I’ve always been easily distracted by many things. Fortunately, none of these have been harmful, other than my food intake and indulgence in my moves between NYC and Chicago, where I have lived out of my car and on benches up in NYC. I love to live experiences, but at some point they catch up and you’re lost with nothing.

    But I digress, as my life is book, but awakening and enriching oneself to the pleasure of a better life towards a better humanities is never far away, as we think. It begins with the heart followed by a healthy body and spirit.
